In this session the group discussed visible (apparent) diversity, which refers to those differences, which can be immediately be observed when looking at someone (ethnicity, gender, religion) and invisible(non-apparent) diversity, which refers to the diversity we usually do not see when we meet and interact with others(class, age). The group also discussed their personal inclusion journey such as, having an open and honest dialogue about the lack of women sponsorship and the lack of advocates for women of color into leadership roles. The session was engaging and an eye-opener about our own personal bias that could impact diversity and inclusion at the workplace. The goal is to ensure we are creating and sustaining change that fosters a more creative, inclusive , respectful and productive environment.
Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.
